Welcome! My name is Claudia Shearer, and I am a quilt artist and educator who creates modern and contemporary art quilts through improvisation. A Bay Area native, I have called San Francisco home for more than 40 years and have been quilting for over 20 of those years.

I offer workshops and lectures focused on modern and improvisational quilting techniques, giving students the tools and confidence to create expressive quilts that are unique to the maker. My quilts have received numerous awards and have been juried into QuiltCon, Quilt Festival Houston, and Pacific International Quilt Festival.

My textile work is rooted in improvisation and experimentation, translating inner and outer landscapes into abstract form. Inspired by organic shapes, natural rhythms, texture, and color, my work explores themes of place, healing, and renewal. For me, the process of making is as vital as the finished piece.
