Claudia John Shearer, Quilt Maker
I am a San Francisco-based modern quilt maker who has been drawn to art since childhood. I studied photography in college and beyond, but art took a backseat for years while I built a career in a non-creative field and raised a family. In the mid-2000s, I discovered quilting and quickly became obsessed with the medium.
My quilts have been exhibited widely in local, national, and international exhibitions, earning numerous awards. I am a member of SAQA, The Modern Quilt Guild, and the San Francisco Quilters Guild, where I served as President. I am also a founding member of SFSewandSews, a collaborative group.
Over the years, I have developed a wealth of tips and tricks for creating modern improv quilts, and I love sharing my process with others. I offer engaging lectures and workshops for quilters of all levels—whether you're just starting out or looking to refine your skills. My classes focus on modern and improvisational techniques, equipping quilters with the tools to create unique, expressive designs.
