Coming Jan 17 - Create Your Own Jeans Jacket Workshop - Sign up Today!
Want a showstopping fashion piece for QuiltCon or just for fun?
Learn how to create your own unique quilted jeans jacket! We’ll start with your inspiration and move through improv design, block construction, and assembling a mini quilt directly onto a jacket. We will focus on simple blocks (you only need a few for a jacket) creating an achievable design, simple quilting and finishing options.
I hope you will join me from the comfort of your own home. If you unsure of where to locate a jean’s jacket, consider thrifting one, or using something already in your closet (even if it’s a shirt or other type of jacket). I ordered mine from Old Navy. Their Classic Jeans Jacket is currently on sale for $35.99
No special supplies beyond a jacket is necessary. You will need a sewing machine, quilting cottons, thread and basic sewing supplies.
Improv Curves with Hello Stitch Studio, in person at Bay Quilts, Richmond CA on Feb 22. Click HERE to sign up
Learn how to construct a dynamic curved block using Claudia's ruler- and template-free technique and design your own Postmodern Curved Improv quilt.
This workshop is perfect for quilters who are new to
improvisation or anyone looking for a structured, yet creatively open, way to dive into freeform design. You'll explore a concept I call flexible patterning—you determine the number, size, and layout of your blocks, working loosely within a grid to create rhythm and movement. This process allows for spontaneity while maintaining a cohesive structure.
I will walk you through cutting and piecing curves without rulers or templates, plus share tips on fabric selection to help you build a vibrant and personal color palette.
