Purple Haze, 2020

27×37

Purple Haze was created during the darkest days of the COVID lockdown, a time filled with uncertainty and isolation. The quilt reflects this atmosphere through a deep, moody color palette that embodies the emotional depth and introspection I felt at the time.

The lyrics from Asaf Avidan's Darkness Song—"I've got a darkness shining through me"—resonated with me as I worked on the quilt. This was music I listened to repeatedly during the lockdown. Avidan describes the song as an exploration of accepting darkness as part of our light, a theme mirrored in the quilt’s design.
